Annual Civil War Dance Pic

It's that time of year again! The Civil War came to town, and we went to the Saturday night dance again. This photo was taken by Gordon's jousting partner, in our back yard, right before we left. We only danced a couple of times, and ended up visiting with the British Observer for the Confederate Army, Col. Marshall, and his wife, over port and shortbread. Turns out they live on Lopez Island, not to far north of us. Just like Second Life, you never know when you're going to make new friends! They came by this morning after breaking camp, and we fed them breakfast (always lots of eggs on hand!) and visited for several more hours. Turns out Mr. Marshal runs a foundry, and is building a bronze Gattling gun in his spare time. That made "Mr. Peterman" very happy!

Now Playing: The Warhorse Guild

Pull up a hay bale and catch the newest craze in entertainment: kinescopes! I made this little kinescope a year ago this month, and it shows us doing our best "Medieval/Renaissance Jouster" bit. We've come a long way in a year, and as soon as I have time I'll cut some more footage together. In the meanwhile, take a gander at what the Petermans do in rl. Well, Mr. Peterman, anyway....I'm behind the camera as usual.

Just enable your "media" button and press the "play" arrow.

Also: not that it's hard to make your own, but I'll package up the "viewer" in a modifiable form and put it in a sell/give box in the stable sometime soon, with instructions and web links.

Folly Photo

Prof. Sputnik's machinima shoot in Caledon on Sea was "rained out" (SL bugginess) just now, so I took the time to shoot some pics of the Folly.

Radio Neb!

Following Hotspur's lead, as usual, I'm trying out this newfangled "MediaMaster" thingumy. I have a radio button right here on the blog (left), and I'm streaming onto Peterman's Folly in SW Boomtown. I have a pretty staid if eclectic taste in music. I've tried to keep vaguely with the feeling of Steelhead, so it's going to be classical, ambient (Enya-ish), Gilbert & Sullivan, and classical-sounding movie scores.

Happy listening!

What would YOU do for a Klondike Bar?

How about voting on this little "commercial" that we worked on last week? Starring Mr. Peterman as "the miner"! All you have to do is sign up at the Klondike site, then vote for our "Klondike Express" entry in the contest.
I'm totally biased, but I think it's one of the best entries so far, so I have no qualms about begging for votes. I believe you can vote once a day, so help us pay down our mortgage win!

PS The VO at the end is NOT Mr. Peterman, although it's cute. My husband does not sound like Gabby Hayes.

PPS I promise that this is the last thing I will be begging votes for....unless I decide to run for President now that Hillary is out. Oh, wait, I'm Libertarian, which means I don't stand a Klondike Bar's chance in hell. Fooey.

Chickens Rule!

...or, to be more exact, videos promoting books for kids instructing them in the fine art of raising chickens rule! Go here and scroll down to see evidence of this fact.

Here's a note from the little girl herself, thanking all who voted (you know who you are):

Fri Jun 6, 2008 9:23 am (PDT)

I wanted to thank all of you who supported me in the video book review voting. I just found out that the chickens were victorious!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! It is so neat how everyone got together and helped from all over the world! I think the results should be on the web site soon at
Thank you again!
Special thanks to the many denizens of Steelhead, Caledon, Middle Earth (well, there were elves from somewhere involved) and other lands who answered my blatant plea to thwart the forces of evil which were threatening to sway the voting using Tammany Hall-style tactics. Take THAT, forces of evil!

Yes, I hang with superheroes.
